Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hi everyone,

Like I already mentioned in some replies in the past, I thought it would be good to make a post about my health and work these days. If you don't like reading about disease and such, totally understandable, just skip the post and take home I'm doing ok again. 😉

As some of you know, last year, I got diagnosed with leukemia. At 46, that was quite the surprise. Since my previous job was all about cancer research, it was quite funny to talk at level with all doctors. For me and them, it made things quite easy communication-wise.

My treatment didn't go well unfortunately, for some reason my body couldn't handle the regular chemicals and it basically shut down all of my bone marrow production, leaving me in quite a life-line dancing-act. It took me 5 weeks of laying in bed and enduring a failing immune-system.
After that, I had to get going with a second option they had and this I tolerated very well luckily.

So well in fact that when Mabula contacted me again, invited me over and offered me to continue my work. This time focusing on the development of APP instead of the forum work, which he is doing now together with help from Simon. We already worked together on the code and I'm helping him modernizing the project, slashing some open issues and hopefully adding new features. I'm very grateful for him taking me back in.

Thanks for all your interactions in the past both here and at Astrofest, always enjoyed helping out. Onwards!

I'm glad you survived this horrible affliction.  My cousin Barbie had that back in the late 1960's.  She didn't make it as most did not at that time.

I hope you stay remission free.

Szumi

@szumi Yeah, things definitely are improving, my former boss is now also part of research that is more personalized medication, based on your own cells. Very cool, but not yet available. I hope in due time I can test that. 🙂 Thanks!

Dear Vincent.

I am new (both as customer and here in the forum), but while browsing through the forums here, I read about your fate.

Good to hear that you are about to recover - and I wish you all the best, "press my thumbs" (as we say in German) and feel with you. Please - do not overengineer, try to go with the flow.

All the best.
Michael

PS: Astrofest - was it this exhibition: https://europeanastrofest.com/ ?

@michaelacg Vielen dank! Mentally I'm pretty much back to normal, better even I would say as I probably have been sick for a bit longer than I noticed. But I will watch myself of course. 🙂

And yes, that was the Astrofest we visited a couple of times.
