CMD+A no longer sel...

Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

CMD+A no longer selects all when choosing images in a folder.  I noticed this a couple of betas ago and is still not happening in beta13.  I know this worked on the last stable full release or maybe a couple of earlier betas of 2.0.0.

Yes I noticed this too on macOS Ventura 13.2 and APP 2.0.0-beta13. CTRL-A also doesn't work on macOS.

This is correct indeed, unfortunately when we moved to the new filechoosers (which are much nicer in our opinion), the cmd-a on a Mac doesn't work. It's a known issue for the filechooser used in JavaFX, which we use here. We decided that the new choosers are so much better, that we moved ahead. We will look for ways to get that working again if possible.

Hi, it would be interesting to have the option of using cmd+a again, it is something that many of us use continuously.

as a workaround coudl we simply choose the parent folder and have it's contents automatically (and preferably recursively for nested folders) added?

Hi all, this issue is on our list and we will try to make command-A possible again in the new Native File Choosers 😉

Very good news! Thank you for making our job easier and including this feature in beta 23.
Greetings

Bringing this issue back up to the top...as it appears it's once again an issue.  It was working with my last update (which would have been a version from somewhere in the early 2024 timeframe)

Hi @cschurch,

Several beta versions ago, we have changed the File/Directory Chooser window to be a fully native one, to give a good macOS feel. The old File chooser was not native and clearly lacked browsing capabilities on the macOS platform. Unfortunately, this native file chooser can't not use CMD-A yet and we are dependent on both Apple and our development platform to have CMD-A working in this native file chooser. We have asked to have this inlcluded goign forward, but it has not happened yet I am afraid. I can not hack this native file chooser to include CMD-A unfortunately. Hope this explains it?

The old non-native file chooser would have CMD-A working, since we have fixed that earlier, but most mac users clearly demand the native file chooser over the non-native one and we had to make a choice between the 2.

Got it thank you Mabula for the response.

I’ve found I’m able to work without the CMD-A functionality…a little bit more difficult but not impossible.

Hi Chris, @cschurch

Glad to hear it, please know that the CMD-A functionality in the file chooser stays on our issue list until we can finalluy resolve this in the native file chooser. So we will check if it is possible going forward for sure.
