Bug: selecting part...

Apr 9 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 24 hours !

It has a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration, for mosaics even faster! We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. Improved Outlier Rejection with LN 2.0 rejection. macOS CMD+A works now in file chooser ! And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming hours...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

This happens on an Apple Air M1, in OpenGL4 mode. Quite often the top and/or bottom lines are not shown. The sides are shown almost always. When zooming, the entire box will disappear when zoomed out.

This does not happen in CPU mode, then the box is always drawn just fine.

Both beta 2 and beta3 are affected. It appears the box is still used for its purpose so it looks like a drawing problem, not a selection problem.

Got a response, the M1 is not fully supported yet, but we're working hard on getting a native solution. Java now has a version for it, so hold on tight.

Hi Sander @svdwal, I am investigating now on a M1 apple computer.

I think it might be a problem of the rosetta2 translation... since APP 1.083-beta4.2 is not yet natively build.

I also notice that the OpenGL image viewer is way slower than the CPU image viewer. So I would suggest to use the CPU image viewer for now.

APP 1.083 stable is nearly ready now. First thing I will do after it's release is to move APP code base to Java 17 which allows to natively build on M1 and then make a M1 version of APP 1.083 stable. That might be the fix I think. If the selectboxes then still are not shown, now and then, we will look at the drawing code for those boxes.
