May 27 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta45 has been released !

Fully Multi-Threaded LNC, many improvements for the registration engine, platform upgrade, and further tuning of internal memory consumption and memory release back to OS.

Apr 14 2026: Google Pay, Apple Pay & WeChat Pay added as payment options

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I have a 2013 iMac 27 machine which I've installed the latest APP on. Apple no longer support this computer and the last runnable version of OSX is High Sierra.

When I try to run APP nothing happens ... there is no error message. Is there a minimum version of OSX it will run on ?

Best Regards

Hi Peter @lx200gps,

Please see the comments about this on our downloads page: https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/downloads/

  • note 1:  Starting with 2.0.0-beta9, the macOS installers are fully signed and notarized by Apple, so they should install without issues on the latest macOS versions. Please make sure that you allow software from App Store and identified developers in your privacy and security settings to be able to install without any issues.
  • note 2: Versions before 2.0.0 will not run on macOS Ventura and later.
  • note 3: Astro Pixel Processor 2.0.0-beta14 or later requires macOS Big Sur 11.0 or later.
  • note 4: 2.0.0-beta13 was the last version that works on macOS Sierra 10.12.6 or later.

So you can try the older 2.0.0-beta13 for High Sierra. In the past couple of years, Apple has changed a lot for security and privacy on the mac computers and these changes cause compatibility issues for old software on new mac computers and vice versa unfortunately.

For us, to be able to have APP work on the latest Mac OS versions, we need to develop according to Apple's latest standards and that makes our newest releases incompatible with older macOS versions.

Hope this helps and clairifies it?

Mabula

Many thanks  Mabula 🙂

I've just heard about OpenCore Legacy Patcher which claims to allow running the latest OSX on older hardware which I'll give try first.

Hello Mabula,

FYI: I've successfully installed Sonoma on my 2013 iMac using open core legacy: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/BUILD.html

I've downloaded and registered AstroPixelProcessor-2.0.0-beta32-macOS-Intel-64-bit.dmg successfully.

Happy Days 🙂
