May 27 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta45 has been released !

Fully Multi-Threaded LNC, many improvements for the registration engine, platform upgrade, and further tuning of internal memory consumption and memory release back to OS.

Apr 14 2026: Google Pay, Apple Pay & WeChat Pay added as payment options

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hi,

although working with unsupported filetypes is a pain, I got pretty good results by converting to tiff with dcraw (following options : dcraw -q 3 -4 -t 0 -T ). This is 3 hours of integration time in 120 sec subs with 25 darks and 30 flats.

m31rework Edit 2

Camera: Sony A7rII

OTA: Canon 300/2.8 L USM (1st gen without IS) and Canon 2x TC III adapted with Metabones IV

Mount: Skywatcher Star Adventurer guided with Lacerta MGen II and an Orion Mini Guide Scope

Site: Bortle ~3

Seeing: initially good but decreasing in the last hour

Calibration of darks and flats with Sigma clipping 3 and 1 iteration

Integration with Sigma clipping 3 and 3 iterations, equal weights

The lens has some ca when paired with the 2x tc and so I first had to remove this defect in LR before running star color correction but even with that done the colors needed a lot of tweaking. I am already collecting HA data in order to bring out the star forming pockets.

A higher resolution version of the image can be found here : google drive link

Thanks for watching and reading. CS

Yes I think that is a really nice result actually, would be interesting to compare it to processing directly from the raw files when APP supports it! Thanks for sharing!

Finished around 3 hours of ha with a manually debayered Canon 40D and an Nikon 400/3.5 Ai-s lens. The difference is subtle but worth the work.

Bottom right has a bit of a red cast but other than that, it's a nice image.
