Apr 9 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 has been released !

It has a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration, for mosaics even faster! We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. Improved Outlier Rejection with LN 2.0 rejection. macOS CMD+A works now in file chooser ! And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming hours...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Dear APP-Team,
first of all I would like to thank you for this great tool. For nearly one year I´m using APP now and I love it. Tough I´m still just scratching on the surface of the possibillities of this tool I made a great improvment in processing my pictures. You are doing a great Job. 👍
Here now one of my latest works:

Happy to hear that Guido! Very nice result, if I may... maybe the background is a bit too dark?

Hi Vincent,

yes you are right. The reason is, thogh I unsed darks there still was too much noise in the background. Maybe I exaggerated it a bit in the postprocessing.

Next Pic will be better. 😉

Noise is part of the game, I usually like an even "noisy" background. Very mild denoise might be nice to have, but I tend not to because it always hurts details. Personal choice though, main point is that we're happy with whatever we do. 🙂

Hi Vincent,

here´s a more decent version with less dark background. 😉 You´re right, that looks better.
