Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hi all,

is there somewhere a user manual of APP?

In order to promote APP within my astro club, I have to cross the language barrier. Indeed, many people in my club are not comfortable with English. Who said the French only speak French? 🤔

Currently, the bubble system does not allow you to copy what is written on it.
Also, if a manual existed as a pdf or html file, I could start a translation.

hi-i have the newest version (1.074.1). I am trying to calibrate flats and darks. after i put them in, i scroll down to "create bad pixel map" and attempt to hit calibrate. however, there isn't a "calibrate" "button" that i can find. what are the next steps after loading the flats and darks?

thanks for any guidance.

Heather,

What Vincent means is go to tab 2 in APP and scroll to the bottom. Then click the “create masters...” button and it will do what you are looking for.

@vincent-mod

update on the manual? Really struggling with relying upon the pop-up tools tips and especially where there are no tool tips e.g. in the RGB Combine Tool.

It would be REALLY HANDY to have text to refer to when learning the interface

Sorry, no update as of yet. When the next release is out I'll try to have a good conversation with Mabula about it.

I'll second this.  A printable reference manual would be extremely useful.  Videos are linear and not useful to find specific details and explanations.   Even a quick, unpolished, ugly but comprehensible manual would work.  Maybe you'll even get some volunteer editing!

Perhaps a User Manual should get a higher priority vs. adding new features?  I can see where critical bug fixes may take the highest priority.  But, outside of that, learning to use what exists now is more important to me than features that I may never understand without documentation.  I'm sure I am not the only one who feels this way.
