2026-10-09 APP 2.0.0-beta48 has been released !
This is mainly a bug fix release for the reported bugs in beta47. In addition it has a significant User Interface performance improvement noticable when you need to process 1000s of images in APP.
2026-10-03 APP 2.0.0-beta47 has been released !
This is a very big release... many code optimizations/rewrites, many parts of APP are much faster and more precise, especially star analysis and registration are much faster ! Big mosaics will go much faster 🙂
And we introduce a new preview filter, which includes the new Adaptive Deep Sky Stretch and a General Levels Stretch, this has been long over due. The old preview filter (the panel on the right side to stretch and preview your data) has not been updated for a couple of years and it is a critical part of any APP session.
Adaptive Deep Sky Stretch or ADSS is a much more intuitive stretch algorithm. It is also color preserving (which is a great new addition in itself ! ) which means that the highlights are no longer bleached, color is maintained from the linear data while stretching. You can simply stretch your data using the sky background level and signal width sliders which work much easier and more intuitive. You no longer need to fiddle with the old complicated sliders with zoom buttons. All the zoom buttons for the sliders are made redundant. And you can enter slider values in the slider value fields yourself. I will make a youtube video in the coming days to explain and fully introduce ADSS. Once the video is ready, it will be highlighted on the forum.
RGB Combine upgrade !. The RGB Combine Tool has been rewritten mostly. The tool is faster and easier to use and most importantly, the Luminance slider to inject a luminance channel or channels into the RGB composite is now working correctly. It no longer bleaches the RGB colors. Combined with the new ADSS preview, you will get much better and easier great composites with great color! I will also explain this in a new youtube video.
I have been using AstropixelProcessor for at least 4 years, and I feel very well, it is simple and gives me a good file to work on, unlike other soft and more powerful software.
I noticed, however, that in the final image if I have very bright stars (an alnitak example in horse head) the star appears to me very large,
Which before when I used another software did not happen!. The stellar reduction does not work, also because then the other stars are fine and are in line with my instrument, a Takahashi FSQ106; I tried to rework a shot of when I used a canon 40d with astropixelprocessor, it improved .. but the limose stars are larger! ..
In the attached photo those stars are even doubles, which with the old software distinguished them, now no longer and looks like a single and bigger star!.
Is there any parameter to set during the processing phase? I usually do not touch anything and it is as if it decides the software .. what is wrong?

I'm interested the responses on this one but to me it looks more like a filter, lens or OTA issue. The second image does look way over-processed. Best to reset APP to factory defaults when something like this goes awry.

It looks to me that the image has been overstretched to the point where the faintest parts of the diffracted light around the brighter stars have been made visible by APP.
Don't take that as a criticism - its something I often do myself. The solution I often use is to save two stretches, a weaker stretch for the stars and a stronger (probably overstretched) version for the nebulosity. I take the stars out of one and the nebulosity out of the other and combine them in Gimp.
I use Starnet++ for this. I'm sure the star removal tool in APP can do it too, but to be honest I've had trouble getting the hang of it.

Yes, I perhaps pulled the image a little, I wanted to see the differences on some of my old photos taken with the SLR many years ago .. to separate the stars I use the Starxterminator, but I see that the stars problem is already in the linear phase..Allego the photo that came out of the app without making any modification.

That "luminous star" above the nebula is actually three bright stars that should be separated in your image. So either the instrument is severely compromised or the image is over processed - don't use any exterminators or reduction tools - just integrate and auto-stretch to see what you get. I have an ES ED102CF, similar to the Tak and the three stars are separated.
I've gotten confused. I don't know if you are posting DSLR or Tak images, or if you are illustrating changes in the software or the camera or both. I suggest you reset APP to factory settings and start your analysis from an unmodified sub from the Tak - forget about the DSLR, its just confusing the issue. I assume the Tak is excellent but better to inspect it. And anything you may have changed on the Tak after the focuser - like an extension tube or reducer - may be introducing stray light.
Also, you might try doing a complete integration without any calibration frames - a good way of troubleshooting some processing issues but probably not going to help in this case.
Good luck
To make the problem understand I initially posted two crop of photographs; I chose an old photo taken many years ago because I could have a comparison with an old software and the new;
The first photo is made with the Iris software,
No longer updated for 15 years and you can see that triple star and from the image it is seen (perhaps the compression has crouched a little), the second image instead developed with AstropixelProcessor, and that triple star disappears making a unique large star,
The third photo is always from Astropixel but the linear without any kind of processing and you can see the triple star which is always as if it were unique; So it should be something linked to the software and not to the instrument.
I also looked at the roughs not elaborated with my new room a QHY168C,
And the stars are the bright and intrusive ones are not so large, a portfilt has been added to the optical train, which was not there before, I was not there, I use a UV/IR Cut Astronomik filter, I think of a good workmanship.
Thanks for the intervention
