June 24 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta46 has been released !

Improved internal memory configuration (lower ! memory usage), fixed beta45 startup issue, fixed Set Save Directory & 2-panel mosaics.

May 27 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta45 has been released !

Fully Multi-Threaded LNC, many improvements for the registration engine, platform upgrade, and further tuning of internal memory consumption and memory release back to OS.

Apr 14 2026: Google Pay, Apple Pay & WeChat Pay added as payment options

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Wishlist for future updates 🙂

Hello,

in order to make working with the APP even better, I thought about what would help me personally.

Remove light pollution: Select and move or delete samples.
"Save" all samples from an image and apply a different filter to the image. E.g. after samples are placed on the O3 filter, place them in the exact same place for the Halpha filter.

Batch function: calibrate several individual frames and save them fully automatically calibrated and stretched as FITS/TIFF/JPG files. (For time-lapse recordings of e.g. a comet or asteroid)

Calibrate star colors: Add photometric color calibration

Star reducer: Better results for Newtonian telescopes. Also in the 400% view 😉

Sorry for my english! Google translator

Regards,

Daniel

Hi @daniel_n,

Thank you for your proposals !

This one is already on our ToDo list 😉 We are working now on saving/remembering settings as well.

Batch function: calibrate several individual frames and save them fully automatically calibrated and stretched as FITS/TIFF/JPG files. (For time-lapse recordings of e.g. a comet or asteroid)

This is already possible I think, you can batch save your calibrated light frames in 2)Calibrate and then with the Batch Save Tool you can apply an identical stretch or auto stretch with same DDP settings and convert to TIFF 16bit for example. (Was implemented due to a request by you 😉 if I remember correctly )

Calibrate star colors: Add photometric color calibration

For this to be possble, we first need to implement plate solving so we can match stars colors with star colors from catalogues. Plate Solving is on the ToDo list as well. And I have added photometric star color calibration.

Star reducer: Better results for Newtonian telescopes. Also in the 400% view

Also on our todo list for sure !

Cheers,

Mabula

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. Very nice 🙂

I overlooked the fact that this is already possible. Just tested it. Works great 🙂
Now it would be nice if the individual frames could be saved automatically with the light pollution tool and calibrate star colors.
So that I have a flat and color-calibrated video when recording time-lapse. 😊

Daniel

Hi Mabula,

Would it be an idea to use ASTAP for platesolving, works extremely fast!

Mert

I would like a way to start up an instance of APP from a shell where I pass in a  working directory path to a batch of images.  This directory would include bias, darks and flats of various binings and a night's worth of robotic images.  The first mode is APP creates masters from the calibration frames, then it calibrates the subs, then moves on to register and stack as appropriate. A command line option might enable auto-rejection based on the image quality metric.

The second mode does the same thing, including creating masters, but a second directory containing reference calibration masters is provided.  If there are masters which match then he reference Master is used.

Here is a first test of C-2019 Y4 as a timelapse with the new functions of APP batch save 🙂

Hello Mabula and team,

please allow me to add two more wishes to the list, which have been already proposed in the forum for years, but not been implemented up to now despite announcement:

- Possibility to define a preset of important options which are then used at start-up: E.g. force bayer matrix for OSC, No multi channel for OSC, No multi session, default file path, etc.

- Possibility to save the parameter settings for reuse.

Further I would like to propose a possibility to process multiple targets (not only sessions and channels).

Thanks a lot for this great SW and please keep going to futher improve it.

Best Regards

Ralf
