Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hello my name is Pieter and I am new to this forum.

I bought the owner license. Anxious to get started with APP.

I loaded my lights, darks, flats and bias frames for a multi channel and multi session processing.

Everything went well for maybe a minute or so. Then I got the message"Not enough free harddisk space"

The HDD info in the upper left corner of the screen is red showing 0GB.

I loaded 90 bias frames, 20 darks, 43 lights and 90 flats. Each frame 20MB.

I have no clue how to proceed.

Could someone give me some guidance please.

Thx

Hi Pieter and welcome to the forum! Thanks for your APP purchase as well!

So, the error states you are low on harddisk space, if that is indeed the case then APP can't process the data as it has to save results on the harddisk. Not sure what OS you're using, but what does the OS tell you about the free disk-space?

Hi Vincent. Thx for fast reply.

I am running on a MacBookPro 2.2 GHz, i7 using MacOS.

The machine states that I have 198 GB available out of 251 GB.

Ok, interesting, so the directory you selected is that limited by any chance? Maybe if you try to save in a protected folder it might not work?

And to be overly sure, you didn't mix the error up with the RAM memory right? You can select that in the CFG window by clicking on that button.

I created a new file on the desktop. HDD remains in red.

It is not the RAM I think that is at 4GB.

The message reads "There isn't enough free space on this hard disk partition etc."

Mmm, ok, what is the location exactly of the direction you're working in?

edit: Woops, you already mentioned the desktop. Ok, that's a weird one, I'll tag Mabula (@mabula-admin) for this.

Sorry, not seen Mabula on it yet, I think he's very busy. It doesn't seem to be an error with APP as it's the first time I've seen an issue like this. I suspect something in your setup is going wrong. Could you try to completely remove APP and install again? Also, reboot the machine?

As it seems APP is not being installed properly.

It appears in the download file and I have to start it from there.

APP is not shown in the program list

I tried reboot as well as uninstalling/installing.

APP only appears as "schijfkopie"

Ok, let's take a step back. So you download APP, open up the .zip file and in there you find the .dmg or diskimage for APP. You click on that and APP shows up, you have to drag the APP icon to the applications folder. If you're starting APP from within the disk-image, that won't have any more room available. Is this the case maybe?

Hi Vincent,

Indeed that was the case. I never dragged it over. Now it is working.

Thx for your help.
