UPDATE FROM MABULA

I have had a very rough 2 months unfortunately health wise. I was struck 3x in a row with bacterial infections. The second infection occurred  after a routine hospital checkup and I became very sick. I had to rest and take a lot of antibiotics. Once I was recovering and restarting work 1 month ago, I again became sick. The infection was not yet gone, so even more antibiotics and rest was needed. Needless to say, it took a lot of my energy and I needed a lot of rest.

Finally, the infection is really gone and my energy is coming back step-by-step now and I have started work again. I am terribly sorry to have kept you waiting for support. I will address all outstanding questions and e-mails step-by step and will be on the forum daily from today.

APP 2.0.0-beta47 will come soon as well, a lot of work was already completed before I became very ill, so the release is also nearly ready for you. Beta47 will be much faster actually. Many workflows will be more than 2x faster, mosaics can even be 10x faster than before because registration really received a major boost... all compared to beta46.  Before I release it, I will make sure that everything is working properly and then I will release it.

Image Doesn't Display After Integration

Hello, I've been having a problem.

I am using a Macbook Pro and half the time, after integration, the image will not display when I click on it.

If I open the Integration FIT file in my desktop computer (a Windows Machine), the fit file displays fine.  But when I go back to the Mac, it does not load an image.

This is slightly annoying to say the least as I have to use two machines to get an image stacked.

The weird thing is, it doesn't happen every time, just about half the time.

I am using the latest version of APP.

Any idea of what could be wrong?

It does need to be clicked twice, I guess you already do that right? Maybe that's sometimes not registered correctly due to some issue on your end? The problem was not mentioned before so that's why I think that might be the case.

Yes, when I click it it says "loading image" and the process bar at the top moves over to the right.  All the information is displayed in the left sidebar, but there is no image.

This happened again today.  There is no rhyme or reason for it to happen as I don't do anything different and it works fine.

Today I moved the stacked FITS file to my Windows computer and it displayed fine.  After seeing it working in the windows computer, I shut the program down on my Mac, opened it back up and opened the file I from the SD card that I just opened on my windows machine and it doesn't display.

That is what is strange, why would the image show up on a Windows machine and not a Mac.

Yes and if it's random it's going to be particularly hard to see why. You do mention an SD card, does that matter? Does it happen when you put it on the harddisk first?

If you have an image that consistently  doesn't display properly, please send it to vincent@astropixelprocessor.com Mabula can look at the file then and see why.

@vincent-mod

I know this is an old thread but maybe there is a solution by now... This is the first time this happens to me too. I integrated several sessions in a multisession to see what APP would make out of it and after integration it doesn't display the file. So I am not able to do further adjustments like LP removal. When I just save the stretched file to tif I can open it in another program, so there 'is' a picture.

PS... I did manage to open the fits in ASTAP and save it as 16bit fits, as it was 32 bit... Now App does display the file!!!

@infoarnaldolopez-nl Can you upload the original integration result (i.e. the image that didn't want to open in APP on your Mac) to

https://upload.astropixelprocessor.com/

using upload3 both as username and password? Just create a directory infoarnaldolopez-nl and put the image there. Then I can try to load it on my Mac and see what happens.

@wvreeven Oops... I wanted to do that but after making the directory I realised that I had 'overwritten' that file with the 16 bit version... sorry... :-/ I might try to do another integration and see what happens,... It only takes a while!

@infoarnaldolopez-nl No worries. Please redo the integration and upload again. Let us know when the new files is there and we will take a look. Thanks!

@wvreeven I'm uploading the file right now. I did a simple stack without callibrating to speed it up a little... And again it doesn't show in APP

Again, when I load the fits with ASTAP and save as a 16bits file it does show in APP. It just doesn't show 32bit files...

@infoarnaldolopez-nl The image loads fine on my MacBook:

Screenshot 2021 02 15 at 08.20.07

This is on my MacBook with the latest version of Big Sur. It has 64 Gb internal memory with 54 Gb allocated for APP. Also, I am using the 1.083 beta version of APP. Even when I only allocate 2 Gb for APP, the image loads fine.

What version of APP are you using and what version of MacOS are you on?

My iMac has Catalina on it. Unfortunately it is to old for Big Sur (late 2013),... I haven't tried to open the file on my macbook, I'll give that a go. But usually I use My iMac with APP. Same 1.083 beta version... 16gb allocated for APP.

@infoarnaldolopez-nl Can you describe exactly what happens in your case when you try to load the image? Do you see the FITS info on the left? Do you get a black image? Any error message? Please be as verbose as possible and include screenshots of you can.

@infoarnaldolopez-nl So this may be an issue with Catalina then. It is hard to keep supporting older versions of MacOS due to the Java version used.

I understand, but never had this issue before. Nevertheless, I have a workaround... And it is time to upgrade my iMac 😉 Thanks for now, Arnaldo
