Hi Greg @gregwrca,
You can use all or part. If you have 8 CPU threads (would be 8 cores without hyperthreading or 4 with hyperthreading) then using 7 is fine, it will free up the Operating System a bit to do it's work as well. The system will stay more responsive.
Some people need to work on other things, will APP is working in the backgorund. In that case, you can reduce the amount of threads if the other application has not enouh processing power with the available resources.
