Apr 9 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 has been released !

It has a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration, for mosaics even faster! We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. Improved Outlier Rejection with LN 2.0 rejection. macOS CMD+A works now in file chooser ! And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming hours...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I installed APP on my laptop (Win10) successfully. Trying to install the programm on my workstation (Win10) wasn't so lucky: The install routine finished the cooperation with the message: "CreateFile failed. Code 5. Access denied" and the following advice to fix the problem and restart the installation. ???

So what is running: Win10, Kaspersky Antivirus (stopping the file control did not have an effect) ...

Greatfull for any helping advice!

@hugo1803 Hi Jörg,

Are there any differences in access rights for your users on the laptop and workstation? What path does APP try to install to on the workstation? Does your user have write permissions in that folder? If not, does it help if you choose another folder to which your user does have write permissions?

Wouter

Hi Wouter,

thank you for the very fast reply. I had the idea to install APP to a dircectory D:\Programs... (C:\ isn't fully on the edge but I wanted to save some space on that drive). Today I gave up und didn't alter the proposed directory (C:\Users\AppData\Local\AstroPixelProcessor). And see - it did what it was supposed to do. I don't know why but I can live with that.

We invented computers to get an intelligent tool to help us. The intelligence didn't work very but guile an deviosness they owned in a good measure...

Thanks!!
