Apr 9 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 has been released !
It has a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration, for mosaics even faster! We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. Improved Outlier Rejection with LN 2.0 rejection. macOS CMD+A works now in file chooser ! And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming hours...
Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
Dear Aleix,
The frame list panel is showing that normalization of the data failed, so the issue must be found there.
Please check how your data looks in the l-c-registered image viewer mode before performing normalization and let me see this in a screenshot of APP which also shows the histogram. That might give me a clue about what's happening.
I know from another user Dave @Jonesdee, that severe black clipping after data calibration is the issue, and if you enable in 2) calibrate the adaptive data pedestal, all works fine, normalization works and the integration is perfect as well.

Hi Aleix @aleix,
I can confirm that if normalization fails on all frames, then the integration wll be black. I will make APP smarter here:
- inform the user that the normalization issue needs to be resolved to get a good result, probably by enabling the adaptive data pedestal in calibration
- still store default normalization parameters in case of failed normalization, so at least the integration shows.

Thanks so much Mabula. I am trying this now and I'll let you know how it works.

Aleix
It doesn't work. I even disabled the "Sigma Clipping" in the INTEGRATION-Outlier Rejection. But no result.
Thanks for your help.
Problem solved! I sent to Mabula the masters dark, bias, flat and there was a problem with them. So the calibration failed.
I did a new library of calibration images and now yes, I get good results again.
Thanks again to Mabula for your help and fast answers.
Regards,
Aleix
