Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual
We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.
Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.
With beta 30 not making any progress since 5 months and understanding health 7private issues might destroy any roadmap, I wonder if it would be favorable to deploy beta 30 as is, rather than waiting until the full potential agendas has been worked. I think beta 30 holds lots of value already
I've seen them go a long time between beta releases and then sometimes see multiple beta releases in one week. I imagine that they want to make sure things are stable before releasing the beta, and I imagine any alpha testers are the ones who will give the go ahead on that. I imagine if Mabula released the beta 30 and it was super buggy people would get pretty mad about it.
This is all fine, but testing usually happens as part of the release cycle. What worries me a bit, if testers would flag issues, these would get addressed and we would see this added to the release notes, which did not happen since 6 month. Also @mabula is not responding at all, this is why I think it might be better to release whatever is available right now even with minor flaws. At least it is still beta anywayÂ
Hoping that live is slowing things, and APP's development will pick back up.
But I also wonder if it's time for Mabula to bring on another programmer, open source APP, or sell it to where it will be developed.
I lost my confidence in APP and moved to PixInsight for now.😒
I'm starting to be concerned. I think we rate a communication from Mabula about the status of the project.
I think this project has failed... It is unacceptable to have no contact with the support team for months... No communication, no explanation. This is a very disrespectful treatment of customers who paid for the software.
@mizar Hi Piotr,
there was some communication at least from Vincents side: https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/community/main-forum/concerns-about-the-future-of-app/#post-31137
But from Mabula no sign at all for at least half a year (except one regarding licence). I would really have a word from him on the status of the project!
Â
All,
APP hasn't failed as a project in IMHO. APP is a great stacking engine in beta 29 status already. Due to various personal reasons there might be delays or reprioritization.
I didn't mean to start a discussion on APP's status / future.My point was just to get beta 30 out the door As Is after seeing no progress notes for sol long time, because I believe beta 30 would be an improvement to an already great pre-processing SoftwareÂ
Hoping the best for the health of everybody involved at APP
