Apr 9 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 has been released !

It has a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration, for mosaics even faster! We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. Improved Outlier Rejection with LN 2.0 rejection. macOS CMD+A works now in file chooser ! And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming hours...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Like this new beta a lot, well done @mabula-admin and team.

the star reducer is greatly improved, with halo about 1.0 or so, full intensity, and a small reduction to 85% (I really like stars in my images), it runs very fast without artefacts.

Overall, many of the tasks through APP are much faster/efficient, that is also quite helpful.

I also tried the HSL color tool and really like its speed and the option to see the chosen color range, that makes it powerful.

Looking forward to using it, probably next year given the clouds in Ireland these days!

You're welcome. I look forward to testing it with new (good) data. I must resist the urge to go back to old data 😜.

But the star reduction helped a little with the star-registered and comet registered blend of data to give me this 10 minute (5 sub) image of C/2021 A1 (Leonard) and M45.

I love stars, so I reduce them only a little.

Happy holidays everyone.

Hi there and happy holidays,

Sorry for this either beginners software question. I have APP 1.082 (licensed) installed on my laptop (Windows 10) and I would like to install the new Beta3 1.083 version. Do I need to deactivate the version and delete the software I am running first before re-installing the Beta version?
Also, APP shows only 8RAM/CPU but I updated my laptop to 16RAM. I assume when switching to Beta, the software will recognize the upgraded RAM?

Thank you for your help.

@ggalbch

You can download and install the new version and it will overwrite the existing one. Install as you did with the current version, nice and straightforward.
