Apr 9 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 has been released !

It has a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration, for mosaics even faster! We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. Improved Outlier Rejection with LN 2.0 rejection. macOS CMD+A works now in file chooser ! And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming hours...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hi!

I'm just reporting what might be an installation issue, with Beta 27. (Yes, I relented and tried a beta. 🙂

This is on Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon. APP Beta 27 downloaded and installed ok, and I am kicking the tires. But...I just noticed that there are some broken links that seem odd. [Screen shot attached]

My laptop is a new P16 Gen2, and it supports two NVMe's, so I installed the OS on one, and /home on the other.  Beta 27 is the first APP install on this machine, so whatever you see, came from that install.

APP is working ok when executed directly in my ~/opt/AstroPixelProcessor directory (although it would be nice if it showed up on a menu).

However, I just noticed that ~/usr/local/bin and ~/usr/share/applications contain broken links to APP, as they are not pointing to APP's actual location.

Just FYI...

- Bob

Hi Bob, @devonshire

Beta27 had an issue and we have removed it completely. Can you test with beta28 if all is okay or not? We test ourselves in Linux Mint 20 and all works fine there with links in the desktop start menus as well.

Hi Mabula,

Thanks for the response!

I did look at #28, but had already pulled down #27, and the only thing I saw in #28's release notes was a MacOS issue, so I didn't see any reason to expect an issue with linux...not that this was a big one - more like an FYI.

I do see that you have a #29 in progress now, so I think I will hold off until that comes out, and will at that time attempt a thorough deinstall of #27 and then an install of #29 to see what happens.

I'll be very glad when this looong beta period is over.  I expect that you will be, too.  🙂

Thanks, Mabula!

I've just installed beta29.   Prior to doing that, I deleted the broken links (only). Those links did not come back, APP is now showing up in Linux Mint's menu, and it appears to be stating just fine. 🙂   I'll try processing some images a bit later today.
