MAY 4 2026: APP 2.0.0-beta44 has been released !

New improved internal memory controls should now work on all computers

May 1 2026: APP 2.0.0-beta43 has been released !

Improved internal memory controls (much more stable and faster on big datasets), fixed CPU image viewer, fixed Narrowband extraction demosaic algortihms.

Apr 29 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta42 has been released !

New improved Normalization engine, Fixed random crashes in integration, fixed RGB Combine & Calibrate Star Colors, fixed Narrowband extraction algorithms, new development platform with performance gains, bug fixes in the tools, etc...

Apr 14 2026: Google Pay, Apple Pay & WeChat Pay added as payment options

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Hello,

I've been working on this object for a couple of nights to reach a total integration time of 18.5 hours. Two-panel SHO data were processed and combined in APP. Noise reduction and color enhancement were applied in PI and Lr. My gears are: QHY163m, Takahashi TSA120, Astro-physics Mach1, Antlia 3.5nm NB filters. Here is the link for acquisition information and higher image resolution https://astrob.in/fbg3mq/B/.

Clear skies,

Kijja

That looks very nice, difficult to get the background corrected I can image with all the nebulosity. 🙂 Did you add some sort of smoothing to the nebula?

You hit to the points again! Thank you for the issues of correct background and de-noise. To be honest, I am not sure for what should be the correct background of this nebula. I just use Ha for Luminance, everything outside Ha was considered as background. I also applied de-noise from Nik software to the final touch. This is probably too much. What is your ideas for improving this image?

Oh, it was not a criticism, I meant to say that I find the result good with so many nebulosity. That's always difficult to get nice. 🙂

So I think that looks fine, I would maybe not use the denoise option as I think it removes detail in the nebula.

Don't worry, I always want to listen to your constructive comments. I agree with your comment on too much denoise. More lights were acquired to improve SNR so that the need for noise reduction was lessen. Here is the link to my new image https://astrob.in/fbg3mq/C/
