Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

Is there a limit to the number of files that APP can stack?

Hi!

Long time no see.

In general APP is working very well for me but last week I encountered a challenge.

I am using a SeeStar S50 to take 10 sec images and I collected some 9700 (nearly 27 hours of exposure time) of them. I have successfully stacked nearly 4000 FITS files on my MacBook with APP but 9700 seems too much. All is well up to and including Normalization but then APP just stops. No error message. No popup. And, unfortunately, no integration. The "Integrate" button in tab 6 becomes clickable again and, when I do so, APP spends a lot of time building the files list but then just stops again.

I know I can stack in batches but that just is soooo much work haha. Is there anything I can do to stack those 9700 images?

Thanks, Wouter

No and yes.

NO because: I have tried with about 10k files. 2 out 3 times it failed as some java script error (java.lang.IllegalArgumentException) that is fixed in beta 39 I read, (speaking of which, it was supposed to come out in the last week and I am still waiting for it, haha). It does not like something and it just stops. Out of my multiple tries with 8k+ Seestar files, you will run out of memory if you don't have more then 32 gb.
3rd time it wasn't a crash but it wanted 3.8G space to create it's temporary file.

YES because, if you are lucky as I am and you manage to have enough hdd/ssd space you can have it done.

Extra info you did not asked for: The stack was nice as a first look, but something went deeply wrong with it and I couldn't get a clean starless, neither with starx, starnet 2 or Siril. 3 other people had the same issue with it, so to solve the mystery I deleted the Wizzard.
