Mar 28 2026 APP 2.0.0-beta40 will be released in 7 days.

It did take a long time to have the work finished on this and it  will have a major performance boost of 30-50% over 2.0.0-beta39 from calibration to integration. We extensively optimized many critical parts of APP. All has been tested to guarantee correct optimizations. Drizzle and image resampling is much faster for instance, those modules have been completely rewritten. Much less memory usage. LNC 2.0 will be released which works much better and faster than LNC in it's current state. And more, all will be added to the release notes in the coming weeks...

Update on the 2.0.0 release & the full manual

We are getting close to the 2.0.0 stable release and the full manual. The manual will soon become available on the website and also in PDF format. Both versions will be identical and once released, will start to follow the APP release cycle and thus will stay up-to-date to the latest APP version.

Once 2.0.0 is released, the price for APP will increase. Owner's license holders will not need to pay an upgrade fee to use 2.0.0, neither do Renter's license holders.

I imaged NGC 281 last night and attempted to process them today. I loaded the subs plus bias, darks and flats and went through the six steps in integration individually. I know, I could simply go from Load directly to Integration but I like going through the steps. Doing so indicated no problems. I then went to Tools and tried RBC combine. The result gave me four frames on the screen overlaid and not lining up and certainly not combined!

I'm using all of the suggested settings and I've never had this happen before. Obviously I've done something wrong, so I need help

Not sure what went wrong but you can load the four integration results as lights and then star align them to see if that fixes the issue.

@wvreeven I tried this suggestion with the same result. I’m currently starting over again with the data and hopefully I‘ll sort out the problem. If not, I’ll post again.

As a test, and as above, load the four integrated files as lights, star analyse AND then register, AND then save out the registered files. Load these registered files into the rgb tool and try. This has always worked for me if i have registration problems.

Hi Andy,

I tried as you suggested but I still got the same result.

I tried again using new data from last night (NGC 281) and processed in APP but unfortunately I got the same result. I'd attach a photo of the fits file but it's too large (68 MB). When I do the Star Analysis, it does the process but at the end the screen is black. Maybe this can help in finding the solution to my problem.
