Data Calibration and Integration – The Pelican Nebula

Data is courtesy of Steve Milne

Details: Moravian G2-8300 CCD camera and William Optics 71 apo

5x bias, 5x dark 20minutes, 5x flat, 5x light 20minutes

This video tutorial will show you how to

  • create a bad pixel map
  • create a master dark, master flat & master bias
  • apply all the calibration master frames and verify the calibration
  • register, normalize, integrate
  • perform a DDP stretch with contrast and sharpening

The Pelican Nebula by Steve Milne. This is only a small subset of Steve’s data. 6x20minute 5nm H-alpha exposures. Moravian G2-8300 CCD camera and William Optics 71 apo. Fully calibrated, registered, normalized, integrated and stretched in Astro Pixel Processor.

All steps are done on just a small subset of data from Steve.

Thank you Steve for providing me with this data 😉
