Flat calibration warning

I have received the attached flat calibration warning.  The flats involved in the integration were provided by iTelescope's Calibration Library.  I am working on a 2-panel mosaic, each panel having been taken with the same optics and camera.  In the first panel processed no such warning appeared, but it appeared while processing the second panel.

What should I do to resolve this error message?

Thanks!

Joe

APP Flat calibration warning

Hi Joe @jehoener,

It is not an error message but a very important warning, to tell you that you are missing calibration data to get a good calibration.

The warning is triggered because APP has no MasterBias or MasterDarkFlat with the same pixel dimensions as the flats to correct the flats. Only flats will never work properly.

Is the warning correct in the sense that you did not provide bias nor darkflats for those flats?

Cheers,

Mabula

Mabula:

Thank you.  Yes, that's correct.   I used raw flats provided in the iTelescope Calibration Library; but there are no flat darks available there.  I should be able to create a master bias from the raw bias frames.

Perhaps I should try using the master flats provided in the iTelescope Calibration Library.  I assume that those are calibrated.

Hi Joe @jehoener,

Great, then you got a valid warning from APP that the calibration workflow/path actually was incomplete to get proper results 😉

And now we can fix it as well, I would suggest to get the raw bias frames and then let app create a masterbias from that.

And if you can get some darks as well, you can also add Bad Pixel Map correction to get rid of possible hot pixels...
