15th Feb 2024: Astro Pixel Processor 2.0.0-beta29 released - macOS native File Chooser, macOS CMD-Q fixed, read-only Fits on network fixed and other bug fixes
7th December 2023: added payment option Alipay to purchase Astro Pixel Processor from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and other countries where Alipay is used.
Hi all,
I would lie to know if I still can download some older version
of AstropixelProcessor, in the download section you can only
find the latest.
Thanks for any help on this!
Mert
You can't, there is no backlog on the site. Mabula knows the reasons as to why or why not, let's tag him -> @mabula-admin
Hi @lammertus and @vincent-mod,
Up until now, older versions are not available for download. But I can change this off course if wanted/needed.
Is there a particular version in your mind that you would like to download ? That this has to do with a possible bug in APP 1.070 ?
Kind regards,
Mabula
Hello Mabula,
A very happy new year to you to!!
In particular I would like to download version 1.069 which I
didn't download and try it since I have had quit some problems ( likely
being my fault ) with the latest version 1.070 doing bayer drizzle and not
drizzle, using an ASI1600MCC camera.
Right now I have reinstalled version 1.068 and all goes well ( using
drizzle and not bayer drizzle ) but I would like to try the former
version 1.069 before I switch back to version 1.070 just to see if I can
reproduce the problems I have had with 1.070, that is why!
Thanks for your feedback, much apreciated!

Lammertus

Dear @lammertus,
Here is a direct download URL for APP 1.069 Windows 64bits, you need the windows version, right ?
Can you share with me what the problem seems to be? What is different with respect to 1.068 ?
Cheers,
Mabula
Hi Mabula,
Right now I came home and started my pc. I will process from scratch
and let you know how things go.
Basically I have problems with a couple of datasets where the stack
has a very strange aspect. Once I used Drizzle instead of Bayerdrizzle
with version 1.068 all is ok, I did the ame in V1.070 and things keep
going wrong.
Now I will test the 2 ways to Drizzle in version 1.068, 1.069 and 1.1070
If you like, I will keep you informed at support@astropixelprocessor, maybe
better?
Regards,
Lammertus
Ok, just processed in 3 versions of APP, V1.068, 1.069 and 1.070
In the 3 versions, Bayer drizzle goes wrong and in the 3 versions
Drizzle goes ok!!
I have to say I only processed 4 Lights and 15 flats and 15 darks
Imges shown are the 3 versions of both bayerdrizzle and drizzle loaded
into PixInsight and Screentransfer done.
Regards,
Lammertus
Dear @lammertus,
Thank you for your feedback 😉
Can you please show output from Astro Pixel Processor next time? I don't know anything about what PixInsight does in a ScreenTransfer so this forces me to make assumptions which I rather not make nor need to make if i can see what APP shows 😉
To add to this, the screenshots don't tell me anything. I need to know the following:
- what do you want to do and expect APP to do?
- How many frames do you want to integrate?
- Why use drizzle or Bayer Drizzle?
- And which drizzle settings do you use or think you should use? Please realize that for Drizzle versus Bayer Drizzle, different settings are warranted (you need much bigger droplets with Bayer Drizzle to start with)
To add to this, only 4 frames will never give any usefull information about drizzle/bayer drizzle integration. Drizzle needs a lot ! of undersampled and well dithered data to work well and be of any use normally.
Perhaps the used Bayer Drizzle settings will eplain what is happening here 😉
Kind regards,
Mabula
Hello Mabula,
You are very likely right and so herewith included a screenshot of the parameters used for bayer drizzle and the resulting image in APP. In the resulting image you see clearly these areas where it produces some strange effect. Don't know if the the droplet 0,5 and scale 2 are correct. Of course this is only a trial with very few light to see how things work. I have used Bayer drizzle before with the same settings and a couple of time succesfull, but with a many more frames ( 50 frames ).
The object for me is to drizzle the image and obtain a 2x as big result which is then processed and noise reduced and finally resampled to its original size.
Thanks for your feedback!
Mert
Now that you mentioned the droplet size to be too small, I did a couple
of trials raising the size and efectively, now with 1.5 droplet size the image has come out normal. I have to read more about drizzle tecniques to understand how to do the processing properly. Thanks for your help!
Mert
Hi @lammertus,
I am glad, that is much better 😉
If you have only a couple of frames than you run the risk that the Bayer CFA holes aren't filled in completely when applying Bayer Drizzle. If you use Bayer Drizzle, then the Bayer CFA holes remain empty because no debayering is done 😉
This was actually your problem. Since the Bayer Pattern has 2x Green and 1x Red and 1x Blue and the holes weren't filled , you ended up with mostly green data... so it's not a bug in the Bayer Drizzle routine of APP but a consequence of trying Bayer Drizzle with either too little data or too small droplets.
Kind regards,
Mabula
