I am trying to create another mosaic with 135 and 400mm focal lengths alike the one in Mabula's tutorial. Now the first panel of 400mm of the Cirrus Nebula will not register:
I manually set the star sizes and decreased kappa which kept inceasing during star analysis. I changed scale stop till 12. From the screenshots you can tell sufficient stars are analysed, changed pattern recognition...
Does someone have an idea?
greetings,
stefan
If you visually go through the frames, is there anything weird or different about that sub?
hi,
no, nothing. I managed to get is stacked when I only selected panels with cirrus nebula in it. the star analysis works fine and even though >2000 stars are analysed regristration fails often. the suggestion to lower kappa there only works manually, since it keeps increasing. 2 of 3 panels containing Cirrus can be stacked, where one is of 135mm the other 400mm. What I see is that the stars have blue colored edges which have not been there before in neither image.
Looks like the registration is not spot on, for the blue channel. Could it be something like field rotation maybe? That might be problematic in some cases. Did you switch on "Distortion Correction" and tell APP the frames are from different optics ?
edit: and stacking based on "Quality" might also help if stars vary in size between subs.
yes, this I did both. I will retry when having better data than this test where I had wind ...
by the way: since > 1 year I have to prove I am no roboto when logging in. Is there a chance that this can change?
