Hi
I've just downloaded a 30 day trial of APP and I have to say that I'm very impressed with the hassle free process of calibration, registration, stacking...and mosaic production.
I do, however, have one problem that I can't seem to work out:
I've been working on a mosaic of Simeis 147 and have so far acquired 6 out of my planned 12 panes using SGPro.
I've loaded all of the subs, along with calibration darks, flats and bias frames into APP using Sara's tutorial as a guide and APP does ok except on one vertical seam where it produces double stars (as per the stretched screen grab image attached). The affected seam is the left hand seam of the top right pane. All of the other seams are perfect - even the horizontal seam at the bottom of the same pane.
I've tried this three times now, but always get the same result..on the same seam of the same pane.
Could anyone point me at a setting that I'm missing that could be the cause of this please?
Many thanks in advance.
Regards
Steve
Fixed it!
I had the Star Detection set at its default - when I increased it to 3000 (as stated in the mouse-over - Doh!) it worked.

Hi Steve @steve1962,
Great project by the looks of it 😉
To further help you with the mosaic registration:
Indeed, increasing the amount of detected stars will help registration in the mosaic overlap areas.
Furthermore, disabling same camera and optics should help as well in addition to enabling dynamic distortion correction 😉
Do share your final result of this great object !
Cheers,
Mabula
Hi Mabula @mabula-admin
Thanks for your response - much appreciated.
Now that I've got that sorted, I'm very impressed with how seamlessly and easily APP has constructed this mosaic.
You asked to see the final result, but I'm afraid that a final result will be over a year away - so here's progress so far: six out of a planned twelve panes. Each pane is 6 x 30mins using an Atik 460ex through a 3nm Ha Chroma filter and a Tak FSQ106ED mounted on a 10u GM1000HPS. It was acquired using the Framing and Mosaic Wizard in SGPro.
This was calibrated, normalised, registered, integrated and assembled in APP with minor post processing in PI. This is only a scaled jpeg - the whole image is over 60Mb...so far!
Hope you like it

Steve
Fantastic result so far, really looking forward to the end product 👍
Kirk
Thanks Kirk!
I’m pleased you think it’s ok.
It’s a really slow business - the weather here is rubbish - and the target is past its best for this season so it looks like another year before I can add to it. ☹️
Steve
Hi Steve,
all good things come to those who wait, so they say 😉 where's 'here' by the way, not the UK by any chance?
Kirk
Not a million miles away then, I’m in North Devon
Kirk
Very nice indeed Steve !
Sharing your weather frustrations here in Nth Wiltshire

Thanks Dave.
There’s a few of us under this perpetual cloud - maybe we should form a group of FAPS? (Frustrated Astro Photographers) 🤪
Thanks Dave.
