Hi,

i´ll have a nice data set of a TwoPanel Mosaic with a 510mm Refractor. It´s LRGB Data with one and the same CCD Camera/Flats/Darks/Bias etc.

Can i do the processing in one go? Saw Mabulas Tutorial, but as this data Sets are so differently, he might be first calibrate all on its own. If,like in my case, the Data Set is consistent, would it a be possible to calibrate and stack it in one go in Mosaic Mode?

Yes it is possible to do that. However, star analysis and registration may take a long time depending on the number of lights. In my experience, stacking the subs separately and then creating the mosaic is much faster but it requires more manual intervention.

Thank you Wouter,

yes, its working now and it seems to take a lot of time and processing power. In between i got a black screen, i think the Laptop overheated a bit.

I was confused because i thought it might be clever to reduce the data in a Multisession Set. So Two Sets of Lights, one Set of Calibration Frames. But after Star Analysis, APP choosed just one Frame as Reeference. This made me a bit unsecure.

So if i do it seperately, i should do that as well in Single Mode for each Data Set?

Hello Astrophotocologne, with a two-panel mosaic you can calibrate everything at once and then stacken.
The registration should be done in normal mode.
For star analysis, set the value to 2000-2500, depending on the overlap of the panels.
Alternatively, calibrate and stack each panel to a session. Then process the stacked panels in mosaic mode.

Best regards Henry

Hell Henry,

thank you, well that Link says it all. I thought i´m treating my data very well if i fully run the whole show in mosaic mode, but this is not the case i see now 🙂

Thank you!

That depends on your data but from what you described before I think yes.

Yes, integrating the panels of the mosaic first and then creating the mosaic is better. This is because when using only all subs, the statistics behind this algorithm will go through the roof making it very complex and taking a long time.

Thanks for all the answers,

now i´ve did a run through as you recommended and it worked perfectly fine and pretty fast. Its just a TwoPanelMosaic, so the next Goal ist to create larger Mosaics. With Two Panels it might be even work if i don´t use the Mosaic Mode? I think Mabula mentioned this in one of his Videos!?

It probably will yes, if the overlap is ok. Never really used it in that way though myself, clearly separated panels I already call a mosaic. I'm not sure, but using the mosaic settings may give you beter registration precision. You can check if this is the case by comparing the RMS values in the table.
