I am wondering if this is currently possible...I tried a couple times to make this work with no success, but perhaps I just didn't do it right.

I would like to take data from a wide field lens (135mm) and combine it with data shot with a refractor (700mm) to increase the detail on certain DSOs in the wide field.

Is this possible in APP? I seem to recall seeing images where someone did that, but have no info on their process for it or what software was used. If it is possible, any tips on how to do it?

Yes - APP appears to excel at this. Check out the tutorial from this site on how to do it:  https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/registration-normalization-integration-using-ddc-lnc-mbb/

Basically, I've done something similar - but not maybe as extreme as you. Use multi-session option under Load. Under Registration use dynamic distortion correction and uncheck same camera and optics. Under normalize, use Advanced.

And eventually under Integration you'll try variations of LNC and MBB. May need some experimentation (and advice from someone who knows more than me! But try the above and good luck!)

Thank you, with these options I was able to get it to work pretty well. I managed to get some 540mm focal length data combined onto 135mm focal length image nicely. I think I still need to play around with the settings and iterations more for others but it's a good start. Before I couldn't get it to register at all.

Should this work fine for just using different integration masters? Is there a disadvantage to integrating separately and using those to align to each other? Last time I tried using all of my frames at 1650mm focal length for M81 to register to a 540mm focal length image of M81 and M82 and it ran out of memory (I have 32GB memory and plenty of HD space). I then tried it with the masters and it registered but had a lot of hard edges which I couldn't get to go away even with 50% MBB an quite high LNC (I think I got up to 3rd degree 6 iterations). Perhaps I just need to try with even higher LNC settings.

No, you can stack them separately and combine them later on.
