APP is not analyzing stars so I cannot register my data. I am using a DSLR camera. I must be missing a step or something. Anyone else have this problem?

Hi bdmccarver,

In version 1.055, I adjusted some details regarding how stars are detected from the data. This was needed, especially for very high quality data with lots of nebulosity.

In 4) analyse stars, you have the detect above noise kappa setting. Can you please check what happens if you lower the kappa value?

The default value is 80, which in some cases seems to be much too high. So lower it to a value of 20-40, then APP should really start to detect stars.

Let me know if this helps and solves your issue.

Kind regards,

Mabula

I had to go down to 10 before it worked. Thank you for your help and quick response!

Hi bdmccarver,

Thank you for your feedback. 10 is quite low indeed. I am happy it works now.

Can you share the specifics of your data? Like camera, iso/gain, exposure time and OTA + focal length? That will be very valuable for me to know.

I am thinking of adjusting this kappa setting to a more automated setting that will just work for all sorts of data. But it will complicate quality comparison between the frames, so I need to give it more thought.

Kind regards,

Mabula
