Update : for some reason it now works again. I'm puzzled!
Hello,
Running the latest release, Version 1.074.1 (1.074.1).
It used to work very well, 5 days ago.
When I launch APP, the top menu briefly shows up (5 seconds or so), and them the app quits on its own. The main window doesn't show up.
I re-downloaded/reinstalled the program, to no avail.
What changed on my end is the screen resolution (now using a Dell U2718Q at full res: 3840*2160, 60Hz; was slightly lower before).
Running on a MacBookPro, see attached
Help!
Thanks in advance,
Hi @rodolgo,
Yes, that's puzzling. Can't tell from your info what could have caused that. Maybe a temporary memory problem or Java itself had some issues? Usually restarting OSX helps in these cases (even though it's rarely needed on that system).
Check if there was a Java update. On MacOS that is more a problem than on other OS's due to the "one day" bug in 1.6 some years ago. Since then Java updates are aggressively pushed or... aggressively ignored by Apple (won't be installed).
Haha... Good point indeed.
Will have a look at it. I can't recall of a late update but if it happens silently then that could explain things
Thanks
Unfortunately, same happens again today...
Removed, reinstalled the app - to no avail. Even tried the beta version, same behavior...
So I went and tried to check if any Java update was due.
The control panel shows the same behavior - launches and quits unexpectedly.
So went on and removed Java altogether, and reinstalled the latest version - same behavior again...
Am I cursed?
Help!!!
Thanks!
What happens if you open a terminal, go to the directory with the APP executable and start it? Perhaps it will show a stack trace or some error if and when it quits.
Wouter
Hi, didn't try that yet, but will do next time. For some reason, after restarting the machine, it worked back again O_o
Aahh the Good Ol' Restart Thy Computer solution! Glad to read that you were able to solve this.
Does sound like your system is doing something from time to time to mess with either Java or data in general. Do you notice other weird behavior from other programs?
