Why isn't there a method to download updates from within the program?

Probably because it's not implemented, if the program structure allows for that to be reliably integrated it might be something for the future, but in the way it's now it is less prone to bugs for instance.

Hi @brokeastronomer @vincent-mod,

I am planning to make this possible as well, including APP warning you that there is an update available 😉

Cheers,

Cool, so... the program structure allows for it. 🙂

@vincent-mod), well it is more an implementation of making our server capable of communicating with APP about a possible update, and then uploading the new or updated files 😉 for the different platforms.

The structure as it is now, should not be a problem I think.

Update from the file menu would be great!  also just a notification that there is and update would also do.

I have just downloaded version 1.083.  Can I uninstall version 1.082? I am running MacOS Sierra 10.12.6

You can yes, or just drag it over it (which seems to work fine on MacOS). Mabula does advice to uninstall it first.

On macOS I never uninstall an old version first. When dragging the APP icon to the Applications icon, macOS asks if I want to keep both versions or replace the current one with the new one. I always choose replace and it has been working fine so far.

@wvreeven Thank You, Wouter and Vincent.  I missed the "keep both versions or replace" option (I think I saw it when I switched from the trial to the paid version last year.)  So I now have versions 1.082 and 1.083 in my applications folder.  Is it too late to uninstall 1.082? Should I just leave it alone?

As you can see, I have little practical knowledge of what is going on under the hood.  The program installed so quickly, I thought it was acting as an update rather than a new program.

Thanks again for your patience...

@maddenkeving APP is fully contained inside its app directory. You can simply remove the app directory for 1.082 from /Applications and it will leave 1.083 unharmed. You may want to rename the 1.083 app directory if it is not called AstroPixelProcessor.app but that's for you to decide. It will not matter if you don't though if you install APP in the future then you may not get the prompt to keep both or replace.
