Hello Mabula, how does this work with the dynamic distortion correction. How to find out which setting is the right one, for example telephoto lens.
Hi Minusman,
For images shot with a telehoto lens I would suggest to
- enable dynamic distortion correction
- enable same camera and optics
- increase distortion margin only when registration fails.
- only increase scale stop if you are making a mosaic.
Let me know if this helps 😉
What objective are you using exactly?
Kind regards,
Mabula
Hello Mabula, I use a Sigma 50-500 mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM and a mirror lens Mak 1000 recently.
Hi minusman,
Thank you, I know that zoom lenses usually have quite significant optical distortion and that the amount of optical distortion usually increases with shorter focal lengths.
Can you correctly apply the distortion correction on your data or do you need more help?
Kind regards,
Mabula
Hello Mabula, I have a question about dynamic distortion correction. And to the distortion margin, what causes the controller?
Hello Mabula, I have a question about dynamic distortion correction. And to the distortion margin, what causes the controller?
The distortion margin is basically a clue that you can give to the registration engine. If you have little optical distortion then you can easily set it at the lowest value. Normally, you will only have to increase this setting if
- you are using very short focal length objectives (less then 50mm focal length)
- or if you are using an inexpensive very fast newton (Boren Simon for instance). These have quite strong distortion.
- or if your scope is not well collimated, like with newtons, SCTs, RCs...
So, in most cases, you don't need to alter the setting. Setting it lower will increase registration speed and vice versa.
Cheers,
Mabula
