Can you also try to collect an error log as describes in the previous post? On my windows 10 machines all is fine, so the issue is not directly windows 10, but perhaps some computer configuration that beta45 has a problem with.

Thank you very much for your question. Full image is default, because in all situations it will give robust/reliable results. The overlap mode is only recommended in certain situations, because it can lead to bad results in some cases, like an overlap area with a bright object in there.

So actually, you are mistaken here (of course caused by the internal APP changes), the normalization engine has been improved in the latest versions and also the tooltips in the normalization engine. Overlap mode (similar to the old advanced mode ) is good when you have plenty of overlap (25+ %) between the frames. But if you only have 5-25% overlap, the full image mode actually is much better now. This is because the normalization parameters are now calculated differently. The found locations and dispersions are more robust and more reliable. If I run a 3x3 mosaic with only 10% overlap, the full image normalization is way superior to the overlap normalization.

Thank you very much for sharing the issue.  It looks like a problem with your computer setup then somehow. I have 2 windows 10 machines and with testing all is fine for 2.0.0-beta45.

How are you starting APP ? Do you start APP from the command line or from the windows start menu?

Beta45 has new improvements for internal memory controls and actually we need the OpenJDK for this, these options that we use are not part of the Oracle JDK. (Shenandoah garbage collection is used now in beta45). Please know that the OpenJDK 26.0.1 is installed together with APP when you install beta45. It is not installed into your Operating System, it is only installed in the APP installation folder so APP can be launched in this JDK.

Can you run APP in the following way to collect an error log that can tell us the issue?

Start APP and manually close APP if the process does not stop by itself, then collect the log.txt file and share the contents here with me.

Yes, it works with normal registration mode.

But why did you change mosaic mode registration? 

So can you explain better please what you mean with mosaic mode? And when do i need to use it?

Did APP work correctly before the update of macOS?

Which APP version are you using or trying to install?

Please try 2.0.0-beta45 from the downloads page: https://www.astropixelprocessor.com/downloads/

If that does not work, can you try 2.0.0-beta39 for example?

If that also does not work, the issue can be caused the macOS update possibly. (It would not be the first time that a macOS release has some bugs)

Can you run APP in the following way to see if we can collect a startup error log that might indicate the issue:

open -a /Applications/AstroPixelProcessor.app --stdout log.txt --stderr log.txt

Please run APP and close the process if it does not close by itself. Then share the contents of the log.txt file. It will be best to run this command from your documents folder for instance, then the log.txt file is created there.

Thank you for your feedback, I am working as hard as I can and definitely will work on better support and more progress on the (post-)processing side of APP.

Once I release APP 2.0.0 stable with the full manual, more time will be there to do all of this better. The writing of the full manual actually is very time consuming, but it is nearly ready so I can nearly release it in both full PDF format for offline use and an identical version in HTML which will be online on the website. Of course, once released, the manual will be updated continuously with all of the upcoming changes in APP. I think that already will improve the support big time.
